Your child's first visit

At Gold River Pediatric Dentistry, we follow guidelines stipulated by the American Association of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD): children should see a dentist within six months of the eruption of their first tooth, or by their first birthday.

What to expect

A pleasant, fear-free experience

During your child's first dental visit, it is paramount that he or she has a pleasant experience. We want you and your child to feel comfortable and relaxed at our office.

Dr. Scott will examine your baby's new teeth and mouth to determine whether proper hygiene has been established and also check for potential issues. As a parent, you will have the opportunity to learn about how to care for your baby's teeth and mouth, and also get related questions and concerns addressed by Dr. Scott.

Who you'll meet

The team your child will get to know

Walking into a new dental office for the first time is the biggest unknown of any pediatric dental visit. Knowing who your child will meet before you arrive helps. Dr. Scott Pyo is a board-certified pediatric dentist; his team includes hygienists and dental assistants trained specifically for pediatric care, plus front-desk staff who guide first-timers through every step.

The same team is in the office at every visit. That continuity is one of the strongest predictors of a child's long-term comfort with the dentist, and it is the reason families who start with us as infants are still here as teenagers.

Regular dental visits are important for your child

After the initial visit and dental check-up, we will recommend regular six-month appointments for your child's preventative oral care. We strive to be your child's "dental home", the place where he or she receives preventative, comprehensive, and restorative dental care when necessary, always in a fear-free and pleasant environment.

We hope to build a good relationship with your children. Help them develop proper oral care habits, not only through their childhood and adolescent years, but their lifetime.

Contact us today

It is best to have a dental home you can turn to so that, in the event of a dental problem or emergency, your child is already familiar and comfortable with the dentist who will deliver the treatment. Our goal is to be your child's dental home, the place where your child will receive all of his or her dental care, including preventive, maintenance, or, when need be, urgent treatment.
